Jessica Dawn Stoner
Jessica, a senior at the University of Pennsylvania, is a candidate
for a bachelor's degree with honors in East Asian (Japanese) studies. She
spent her junior year at the International Christian University in Tokyo,where
she maintained a perfect grade point average. Her achievements include the
Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Scholarship,
a United Food and Commercial Workers Union National Four-Year Academic Scholarship,
as well as a finalist in the Japan Society's Kawamura Cultural Fuondation
Speech Contest and as a Pennsylvania state finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship.
Her campus activities include membership in the Alpha Phi International
Women's Fraternity, Camus Hosting and Mentoring for International Students
and Varsity Cheerleading.
Jessica's plans include pursuing a doctoral degree in East Asian International
Relations and Peace Studies in order to fulfill her desire to teach at the
university level. This fall she will start her graduate studies at the London
School of Economics as this year's recipient of the Thouron Scholarship.
A resident of Marysville, Pennsylvania, and a 1992 graduate of Sousquenita
High School, Jessica enjoys music, sports, books, discussions of world politics
