African and African American
Studies (University

African and African-American Studies are disciplinary pursuits. Fields of study focus mainly on
the humanities and the
social sciences and are genuinely interdisciplinary.
African and Afro-American Studies Program, St. Louis
African and Afro-American Studies at Washington University, St. Louis is an interdisciplinary
academic program, largely concentrated in the social sciences and the humanities. Principal
geographical areas of concentration are the sub-Saharan African continent and the United States of
America.
African and Afro-American Studies, UNC-CH
The undergraduate Curricula in African and Afro-American Studies are
interdisciplinary programs leading to the B.A. degree. They are administered
through the College of Arts and Sciences. The aim of the Department is to enable students to examine the experiences of Afro-Americans and the cultures of Africa.

African-American Mosaic
(LOC)
This exhibit includes selections from The African-American Mosaic: A Library of Congress Resource
Guide for the Study of Black History and Culture. This is the first Library-wide resource guide to
the institution's African-American collections, that surveys the full range size, and variety of the
Library's collections, including books, periodicals, prints, photographs, music, film, and recorded
sound.
Black/African Information

etc.) that contain a significant amount of information relating to or of concern to Black or African
people, culture, and issues around the world, either in files or conferences. Also included are

Black Data Processing Associates
(BDPA)
The mission of BDPA is to sustain a network of information technology professionals that is a
positive influence in the information processing industry; a network which shares information,
provides education and performs community service. This archive includes a BDPA FAQ, and information
on Chapter Listings, the BDPANet Bulletin Board System, the Youth Mini-Conference, and the Annual
National Conferences.
Black Pioneers
This site includes information about numerous pioneers like Dr. Charles Richard Drew, George
Washington Carver, Harriet Tubman, Dr. Percy Julian, Dr. Mae Jemison and many more.
California Newsreel: The Library of
African Cinema Titles
California Newsreel - now in its 28th year - is the counry's oldest non-profit, documentary
production and distribution center. It is primary educational resource for documentaries on the
African American experience and African cinema. Newsreel's AFRICAN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVES imprint
offers an extensive list of award-winning documentaries. Its LIBRARY OF AFRICAN CINEMA features the
country's first collection of films from Africa by African filmmakers, enabling Americans the chance
to see Africa through African eyes.
Center for Afroamerican and African Studies,
University of Michigan- Ann Arbor
The Center for Afroamerican and African Studies was established in 1970 in response to African
American students who
wanted to bring a richer representation of the Black experience into the University of Michigans
curricular offerings. The
Center's multi-disciplinary and inter-departmental programs utilize historical, sociological,
cultural, psychological, economic,
and political approaches to the comparative study of people of African descent living in Africa and
the Americas.
