The Mid-America Alliance for African Studies will host a conference at Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS) Sept. 30, 2000. Founded in 1995 at the University of Kansas, MAAAS is an organization for the promotion of African Studies in mid-America. It is open to all with an interest in scholarship and teaching within an African Studies focus.

Deadlines: proposals for sessions and abstracts March 1

Sessions: possible framework
economy, political sciences, agriculture and forestry, history, literature and the arts, veterinary and animal sciences.
Contributions could be: papers of 20 min., round tables, panel discussions or any other format.
