Job: Lecturership in Akan (Twi) language at Indiana

The African Studies Program at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for a
Lecturership position in Akan (Twi) language, beginning August 2008. The initial
appointment will be for three years and is renewable contingent on funding and
satisfactory performance reviews. We seek an innovative and experienced language pedagogue
able to teach Akan (Twi) language courses at all levels. Candidates for the position
should also be willing to participate in a full range of African Languages Program
activities.
Qualifications: A PhD degree in African language pedagogy, second language
acquisition, linguistics, language education, or related field preferred. Native or
near-native proficiency and teaching experience in the target language at the university
level required. Experience developing African language materials, including web-based
materials, and using computer-based instructional technologies is a plus.
