CHARTER

The newsgroup soc.culture.south-africa is primarily intended for socio-cultural discussions on South Africa. However, the discussions may include other issues with direct bearing on South Africa, and the southern African region. The audience will likely be Southern Africans in different parts of the world and all other interested parties. The topics to be discussed include, but are not limited to, the following:

	-South African music, culture, history
	-S.African food
	-Popular sports in South Africa
	-Issues of post-apartheid development
	-Education and training in South Africa
	-South African society in general
	-South African art
	-Technological prospects in South Africa
	-Employment and the state of the economy

Owing to South Africa's controversial past and the infancy of the post-apartheid era, all participating members are urged to be mutually respectful towards each other and to remain cognizant of the various backgrounds, diverse as they will be,of all the participants.
