Rwandanet: Mailing List

Rwandanet: Mailing List

####### Rwandanet, a list for Rwandans and friends of Rwanda #########

All Rwandans are welcome on Rwandanet, without any kind of discrimination.

Non-Rwandans are strongly encouraged to participate, especially people from countries which have been traditionally cooperating with Rwanda (neighbours, donors, etc.). There are so many things (problems as well as solutions) that you can point out when we, Rwandans, don't see them! Please feel free to post this information to other lists/newsgroups, and to tell it to your friends.

Address of rwandanet mailing list: rwandanet@msstate.edu
Address for subscribe/unsubscribe/customize: listproc@msstate.edu

Subscriber Commands
===================

General
-------
List management or information commands (to subscribe or unsubscribe or set some customization) are sent to listproc@msstate.edu. Commands should be placed in the body of the message. The subject field of the message is ignored.

Actual submissions to the list are sent to rwandanet@msstate.edu.

Subscribing
-----------
To subscribe to rwandanet the user should send an email message to listproc@msstate.edu with the following line in the body of the message:

subscribe rwandanet <Full Name>

where <Full Name> is the subscriber's full name (not email address...that will be automatically extracted from the header)

For example, to subscribe to rwandanet mailing list I would send the following:

subscribe rwandanet Gratien Rudakubana

In reply the user will get a welcome message with instructions for submitting messages and for unsubscribing from the list.

Unsubscribing
------------
To unsubscribe from the list a subscriber should send an email message to listproc@msstate.edu with the following line in the body of the message:

unsubscribe rwandanet

Setting List Options
--------------------
There are several options which users can set in order to control list behavior. All such commands should be sent to listproc@msstate.edu.

The subscriber can control whether s/he receives copies of his or her own list submissions with the ack mail option.

set rwandanet mail ack

will cause a copy of any submissions to be sent back.

set rwandanet mail noack

will cause the subscriber to not receive copies of his or her own submissions.

You can cause list messages to be sent as periodic digests instead of individually with:

set rwandanet mail digest

You can temporarily stop receiving messages without the bother of unsubscribing (useful for long holidays and such) with:

set rwandanet mail postpone

You can undo this by setting mail to ack, noack or digest.

Note that the name of this option is somewhat misleading. Messages are not actually postponed, they are stopped. In other words, if you set mail postpone and later set mail to ack you will not receive any message submitted to the list during the interval.

It is possible to get a list of the subscribers to rwandanet (this will be discussed later). You can conceal yourself from the list of subscribers with:

set rwandanet conceal yes

You can undo this with:

set rwandanet conceal no

Useful Information
------------------
The listproc system supports a variety of useful information commands.

To get help send a mail message to listproc@msstate.edu with:

help

as the body of the message.

You can get a list of the subscribers to a mailing list (except those who have chosen to conceal themselves) by sending:

review rwandanet

You can get a list of the mailing lists that a listproc supports by sending:

list
