African Culture Week 2007 - Taste of Africa
Begins November 6, 2007 - November 10, 2007
The MSU African Culture week events begin on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 with the Main
event "Carnival D'Afrique" culminating on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at McDonald Middle
School in East Lansing, Michigan. More detail to follow as the events gets closer. Please
mark your calendar.

Examination For U.S. citizens seeking junior professional posts.
All the following criteria must be met in order to apply:
1. Be no more than 32 years old as of December 31, 2008 (UN requirement).
2. Have at least an undergraduate degree (advanced
degree is an advantage but is not required) in one of
the following occupational fields or related area! s:
- Finance
- Information Technology
- Poli! tical Af fairs
- Program Evaluation
- Environment
- Statistics
3. Be fluent in English and/or French, the two working languages of the Secretariat.
Knowledge of additional official languages of the UN (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish)
is a definite advantage.
Only the top 40 most qualified individuals will be allowed to take the exam per
occupational group.

Examination will be held in February 2008 in New York City. Exact date has not yet been
determined. Travel

Government Research - Sub Saharan Africa Studies - Vacancy Announcement # WTST07120689
The 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina has an
intelligence analyst position (GG-0132 seri! es) open for a qualified individual
interested in conducting research in sub-Saharan Africa regional studies. The successful
candidate will work with a team of civilian specialists writing studies 20-40 pages in
length and must also be able to travel and work closely with U.S. and possibly foreign
military personnel. Candidates should have a thorough background in the history, politics,
and culture of the region and must be willing to travel within the United States and
abroad. Prior residence in sub-Saharan Africa is extremely desirable.
To qualify, applicants must have: 1) U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a
SECRET level security clearance; 2) A graduate degree or equivalent experience in a
relevant social science discipline (including history). A Ph.D. is preferred but not
required; 3) Strong reading and listening comprehension in a language (other than English)
widely used in Sub-Saharan Africa. Candidates must attain an acceptable score on the
Defense L! anguage Proficiency Test; 4) The ability to conduct solid rese! arch and write
clearly in English.
