Announcing the publication of a new magazine that libraries might consider adding to their collections of journals and publications:

"African World: The Forum of People of African Descent"

Founding publisher and president: Bartholomew Nnaji, professor of industrial engineering and operations research at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. From Sept. to Nov. of this year, Nnaji was Minister for Science and Technology in the interim government of Nigeria (before the military coup).

Editor: Okey Ndibe, a graduate student at UMass Amherst and formerly the editor of "African Commentary."

Cover stories on the theme: "Can African Americans Save Africa?"

"Can African Americans Save Africa?" by Okey Ndibe. As Africa's political and economic picture becomes bleaker, many are wondering if African Americans can do much to salvage things.

"A Summit Fueled by a Common Past" by Sheila Walker. A look at the agenda set by Africans Americans at a summit of reunited relatives.

"The Monster is the Debt Crisis: Lamond Godwin" by Ray Velazquez. In a frank interview, an economist takes a harsh view of America's policy toward Africa.
