Faculty Award Winners

Dr. Ronald Granieri

The College of General Studies Distinguished Teaching Award for standing faculty is being presented to Dr. Ronald Granieri, Assistant Professor of History. Students applaud his “passionate” lectures, saying that “one cannot leave his class without not only learning the material, but also feeling awed by it.”

Dr. Kristine Rabberman

The College of General Studies Distinguished Teaching Award for non-standing faculty is being presented to Dr. Kristine Rabberman, Director of Programs in the Humanities and Social Sciences at the College of General Studies.  She is being presented with this award for her courses in gender studies and the Academic Writing and Research Design course she designed for CGS’s Master of Liberal Arts program.

Student Award Winners

David Blome is being presented with a Dean’s Scholar Award for his exceptional academic performance at the University of Pennsylvania and intellectual promise. David will be graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Classical Studies with honors distinction in his major.

Patrick McGinty is being presented with a Dean’s Scholar Award for his exceptional academic performance at the University of Pennsylvania and intellectual promise. Patrick will be graduating with his Master of Liberal Arts Degree with a focus in Creative Writing and Cinema Studies.

Remy Nshimiyimana is being presented with the 2008 Linda Bowen-Santoro Award for his dedication, focus, and motivation towards achieving his degree. He will be graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Studies.  He will also be attending Penn Law School beginning in Fall 2008.

William Colsher is being presented with the 2008 Ronald J. Caridi Award because of his unwavering dedication, motivation, persistence, and commitment to his degree. He not only achieved academic excellence in his degree, but used his time at Penn to take advantage of multiple research opportunities. He will be graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Studies.

Julie Hench is being presented with the 2008 Association of Alumnae Continuing Education Award for her impressive academic achievements at Penn that accompanied many impressive achievements in her personal life; her personal qualities of leadership should be regarded as outstanding  She will be graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
