Master of Environmental Studies

Prospective Students

The Master of Environmental Studies (MES) degree in the School of Arts and Sciences meets the academic interests of a diverse community of college graduates who seek graduate-level education in environmental analysis and management. • Established environmental professionals who seek further specialized instruction in some aspect of environmental studies.
  • College graduates whose current employment fails to engage their environmental interests, and who intend to use the MES degree to effect a career change.
  • Degree candidates in professional schools who would like to combine the professional skills they will acquire fromtheir primary programs with the substance of a degree in Environmental Studies.
  • Submatriculants at Penn majoring in Environmental Studies in the College, or in any other major in the College, Wharton, SEAS, or Nursing, who choose to acquire the credentials that will enable them to accept responsible entry-level positions in the environmental field.
