Penn Summer Forensic Science Academy

4 Weeks: July 6 - August 2, 2008

Forensic science is one of the fastest growing careers in science today. Covering everything from fingerprints and DNA matching to ballistics and blood-spatter analysis, recent advances in forensic science have transformed basic police investigative work as well as the conduct of the judicial system.

In addition to gaining knowledge of these techniques, students in this four-week, non-credit program will hone their skills in critical thinking and data analysis as they learn about real-life crime-solving. Directed by Penn’s leading forensic anthropologist, the program incorporates guest lectures by police detectives, ballistic and DNA experts, and internet crime investigators.
