William A. Levi Fellowship

Penn Summer Abroad has limited funds for travel and/or housing available to University of Pennsylvania undergraduates who would like to participate in the following programs: Argentina, Czech Republic, India, Korea, and Tanzania. A complete application for these funds must be received by March 1, 2006. The recipients will be announced on or about March 20, 2006. Please note that these awards are in the form of travel advances and should be reconciled upon return by presenting appropriate receipts (airfare ticket, rent, etc.). On notification of the award, the recipient must register for the program and pay a $300 deposit. This deposit is non-refundable. Travel Fellowship recipients who withdraw from the program forfeit the award as well as the deposit. In case of cancellation of the program, the award has to be returned. It cannot be used towards going on a different program without consulting with the Penn Summer Abroad office. Information concerning registration, deposit, and cancellation/withdrawal will be sent with program acceptance/award notification.

The complete application consists of the following:

1. An application to the summer abroad program with $50 application fee.

2. A personal statement (printable form), explaining the following: How you will benefit from participation in the program; why, in financial terms, you need the award and how you would finance other costs involved in participating in the program - work during the remainder of the summer, savings, loans, other grants or scholarships, etc. This statement should be printed or typed on the printable form provided (using both sides if necessary), signed, and submitted with the program application form.

3. A statement from the Financial Aid office indicating your need for Financial Aid as determined by that office, and the nature and quantity of such aid currently being received. This should be sent by the Financial Aid office directly to: Elizabeth Sachs, Penn Summer Abroad, 3440 Market Street, Suite 100, Philadelphia, PA 19104-3335.
