Penn-in-London, England
Main | Description | Curriculum
"Penn-in-London was the greatest experience of my life and the professors were amazing."
One of the most successful Summer Abroad programs since its establishment in 1976, Penn-in-London offers students the opportunity to study English literature and culture in the great European metropolis where they still flourish. The program offers a varied menu of five courses from which each student is asked to choose two.
You will also all be invited to come on the various trips and excursions that the faculty will organize to London's many museums and historical attractions, as well as to significant sites outside the city.
London is one of the great urban theater cultures in the world today. This course will attempt to give students as comprehensive an introduction to that culture as possible in five weeks, chiefly through attendance at and discussion of twelve to fifteen theater productions being staged this summer in London. The plays that are performed will cover as wide a spectrum of historical periods and styles as possible, from the classics to modern and contemporary plays to brand new works from around the world. In addition to theater visits, the course will also include visits to a number of sites of interest, including London's Theatre Museum. Students who have strong preferences for particular courses should submit their applications early. Requests for enrollment will be accommodated as they are received.
