For students interested in French language, literature, art, and civilization. Tours is the capital of the Touraine region, where “the best French is spoken”. Based at the Rabelais University, Penn-in-Tours offers advanced and intensive intermediate French courses, as well as a course in 16th-century French Renaissance architecture, landscape art and history. Other classes examine contemporary France as viewed through the media and in its role in the European Union. Cultural excursions throughout the beautiful Loire Valley are also offered. Students live with French families in order to experience full linguistic and cultural immersion.

This program is directed by Dr. Kathryn K. McMahon, Director of Language Programs, Department of Romance Languages, University of Pennsylvania.
