Non-Degree Studies

guest student | pre-nursing

The Guest Student Program offers an opportunity for full-time students at other institutions to enroll full-time at the University of Pennsylvania, for either one or two semesters, in order to enrich their academic experiences or to sample Penn's special combination of campus and urban life.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, students must be full-time, regularly enrolled students who have completed their freshman year and have at least a 3.3 grade point average in prior college level work.

Application

Students must have a compelling academic reason for applying to this program; i.e., the particular course or program of study is not available at their home school.

Students must have their dean's written permission to participate in this program and to transfer the credits earned at Penn to their home institution. The letter should identify the semester or semesters for which the student is applying and should be sent directly to CGS.

Official transcripts of all academic work taken at the college level should also be submitted. No application will be reviewed until the fee and all supporting material have been received. Click here for Application deadlines. Whenever possible, students should schedule an interview with an advisor prior to applying for this program. Please call the CGS office for an appointment at 215.898.7326.

Course of Study Qualifications

Guest Students are entitled to enroll in the full range of courses offered by the School of Arts and Sciences, including seminars and upper-level courses, with permission of the instructor (no courses in the schools of Engineering, Nursing, or Wharton are available).

Tuition and Fees

No financial aid from the University of Pennsylvania is available to Guest Students during their visiting year at the University of Pennsylvania. Click here for current tuition rates.
