AAMW532 - TOPICS IN MEDIEVAL ARCH

Spring 2017: This seminar intends to provide a framework for ways of understanding the symbolic content of historical architecture. It asks the question: If architecture is a bearer of meaning, what is its language, and how does it communicate? Focusing on the monuments of medieval Jerusalem, we will look at their long histories and visual legacies. Open to both graduate and advanced undergraduate students, the seminar is designed for those without previous experience in architectural history.
