Publications and General Public Relations

  • Penn Arts & Sciences Magazine: publish biannually and distribute to alumni and campus audiences
  • SAS Frontiers: publish online monthly and distribute electronically to alumni and on campus SAS Website: maintain with up-to-date news and information
  • Social Media: manage the School’s accounts including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter
  • Announcements: update regarding SAS faculty awards and honors and distribute to campus publications including the Almanac and University websites
  • Publicity: publicize SAS faculty, students, and programs externally

 Public Events

  • SAS Office of Advancement Series and Programs:
    • 60-Second Lecture Series: speakers are also featured on the SAS website, YouTube, and iTunesU
    • Knowledge by the Slice: a lunchtime lecture series geared toward students and staff
  • University Communications and Alumni Relations: coordinate both campus and external audiences for various programs and events
  • Homecoming and Alumni Weekend: arrange for faculty speakers
  • Philadelphia Science Festival: schedule SAS representation in programming

Services to Departments

  • Logos: official SAS logo, information on approved uses of SAS and Penn logos
  • Website redesign services (link to more detailed section)

  • Graphic design services: brochures, event promotion
  • Photography: head-shots, event photography; coordination with outside photographers
  • Alumni labels for departmental mailings

Note: all design services are available without charge; printing and other production costs are the responsibility of the individual department or area.

 Event Support

  • The Office of Advancement can assist in promoting major events for general audiences in a number of ways including emails to alumni, designing print materials (flyers, posters) and ads.
  • SAS Adcancement staff are also available to provide advice and support for departments planning major events such as

    • Lecture series
    • Panel discussions
    • Outreach events
