Margaret Dorsey, Ph.D.

Dr. Dorsey focuses on how attitudes have changed at the U.S.-Mexico border, with hostility and occasional violence replacing the traditional hospitality afforded immigrants. She also analyzes local media representations of the immigration debate.

Matthew Johnson, Ph.D.

Matthew Johnson is visiting Penn for the months of October and November. He is Professor of Archaeology at the University of Southampton, UK. He joined Southampton in 2004 after thirteen years as Lecturer and then Professor at Durham. Matthew's research interests include the archaeology of Britain and Europe, landscape and buildings, and archaeological theory. He has written five books on topics ranging from castles to capitalism: his last book, Ideas of Landscape, was published in 2007. While at Penn, Matthew is working on revisions for the second edition of his 1999 Archaeological Theory: An Introduction, and contributing to Dr. Preucel's classes.
