Directions to the Department
The Anthropology Department welcomes visitors, especially current
and prospective students and their families! While we do our best to
accommodate all visitors during normal business hours, we request that
potential visitors get in touch with the relevant contact person in
advance so we can make the best arrangements to suit their needs.
Those interested in the Undergraduate Program should email the
Undergraduate Coordinator, Ariel Smith,
or call 215-746-0418.
Those interested in the Graduate Program should email the Graduate
Coordinator, Mary Kate Hildebrandt, or call
215- 746-0409.
All other inquiries should be directed to the Department
Receptionist, Amy Sewell, by email or phone (215-746-0419).
The Department is located in the Academic Wing of the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. If you are just visiting the Department, however, there is no need to pay admission. The building is on the Southeast corner of 33rd and South (aka Spruce) Streets. Enter through the Kress Entrance to the Penn Museum. To get to the Department Office, take the elevator to the third floor, room 323. Front Desk attendants are also located at all entrances and can direct you. If you drive, the most convenient public parking would be the parking garages behind the Museum, entrance off Convention Blvd. and South Street. If you're considering travel by train, note that the University City Rail Station is a quick 2 minute walk to the Department.
