ANTH639 - EROTIC SUBJECTIVITY

Course Description:
How do we study cultural heritage? This seminar examines the different theoretical perspectives and methodological considerations that have informed contemporary thinking, writing, and analysis about cultural heritage. Whether studying acts of archaeological discovery or the maintenance of cultural memory, discourses about heritage have become a frequent topic of scholarly inquiry. In this seminar, we will review the different lenses through which anthropologists, archaeologists, critical theorists, and historians have explored heritage as a way of understanding social life. As such, it will discuss the concept as a key term in recent research about cultural representation, materiality, community identity, and diplomatic history.
