Dr. Blum is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Center City, Philadelphia.  For some years he has co-taught Anthro 309/519, Anthropology and Psychoanalysis with Professor Urban.  His interests include psychoanalytic, psychological, and psychiatric anthropology; the relation of psychoanalysis and culture; cross-cultural understanding of child development; and the place of psychoanalysis in the academy.  His scholarly publications include “The Psychodynamics of Postpartum Depression,” “Music, Memory, and Relatedness,” and "The ABD Student and the Psychology of the Doctoral Dissertation."
