Bio

I am an anthropological archaeologist interested in colonialism, capitalism, and frontiers.  I have previously worked on prehistoric and colonial sites in the Peruvian Andes. My current research uses community-based archaeology to explore histories surrounding the Caste War of Yucatan (1847-1901) in the town of Tihosuco, Quintana Roo, Mexico. My research investigates historic haciendas and ranchos of the 18th and early 19th centuries to understand the expansion of the capitalist world-system and the broader socioeconomic dynamics of the Yucatecan frontier in the decades leading up to the Caste War.
