Graduate

Our department is unique in that it offers a four-field approach, providing breadth of training. The core courses for the Masters and PhD programs provide an in-depth introduction to anthropology as a whole. Because of the broad education offered, graduates and advanced students of the program would be qualified to teach in areas beyond their own specialty, resulting in multiple teaching opportunities.

In recent years the Anthropology Department received 160-210 graduate applications per year. We have made offers to 4-6 PhD applicants and Master's acceptances range from 5-10 annually.

Graduates have distinguished themselves by their own contributions to scholarship and service and are employed at universities and institutions throughout the United States and internationally.
