ANTH282 - NATIVE AMERICAN LIT
Course Description:
An intensive study of how Native American cultures have been represented and how they represent themselves in a wide range of media including: ethnographic films, Hollywood films, literature, photography, video, digital archives, and on the world wide web. We live in a historical moment witnessing an extraordinary shift in the role that indigenous people play in curating, preserving, and creatively revising perceptions of their own cultures. With the advent of the digital age, new opportunities for depicting both traditional and contemporary forms of culture open up before us in ways that are at once exhilarating and reason for concern. Intellectual creativity is warmly welcomed.
