Dr. Blum is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in privatepractice in Center City, Philadelphia. For some years he has co-taught Anthro 309/519, Anthropology andPsychoanalysis with Professor Urban.  Hisinterests include psychoanalytic, psychological, and psychiatric anthropology;the relation of psychoanalysis and culture; cross-cultural understanding ofchild development; and the place of psychoanalysis in the academy.  His scholarly publications include “ThePsychodynamics of Postpartum Depression,” “Music, Memory, and Relatedness,” and "The ABD Student and the Psychology of theDoctoral Dissertation."
