Larry Silver, the Farquhar Professor of Art History at Penn, has been named a 2015 Phi Beta Kappa Scholar. As part of the award, he will visit eight campuses during the academic year, presenting public lectures and visiting classes.

David Young Kim's recently released book, The Traveling Artist in the Italian Renaissance: Geography, Mobility, and Style, is shortlisted for the 2015 Ralph Waldo Emerson Book Prize. Established in 1960, The Ralph Waldo Emerson Award honors scholarly studies that contribute significantly to interpretations of the intellectual and cultural condition of humanity, including works in the fields of history, philosophy and religion as well as such fields as anthropology and the social sciences.
