Penn Museum is pleased to announce a film series addressing the theme of cultural adaptation. This month's film, Settling Down, focuses on Ireland's Traveller community, traditionally a rural nomadic people. Based around the experiences of one particular Traveller community in Cork, this film looks at the ways in which Traveller culture and identity have altered as a result of broader changes within Ireland and asks what the future may hold for a people who have come under increasing pressure to settle.
Dr. Tim Corrigan, English Department and Cinema Studies, University of Pennsylvania, will introduce the film and lead discussion afterwards.
The program is free with Museum admission donation. Admission to the Museum is free with a PennCard.
