Blackboard Phaseout Nearly Complete

Our transition from Blackboard to Canvas is approaching its final stages. Blackboard will no longer be available as of 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014. Neither students nor instructors will be able to log in after that time.

We strongly encourage students to review the Blackboard sites from their past courses and determine if there is anything they wish to save.

As instructors request new Canvas sites, they may request that teaching materials be migrated from Blackboard.

All SAS Blackboard sites from 2001 to 2014 have been archived and can be imported into Canvas at any time in the future. It is not necessary to migrate content at this time; it can be imported on request when needed.  Typically that would be when you are preparing to teach a course that uses materials from an earlier offering.  When you request a new Canvas site, you'll be able to indicate that you need materials copied.

It is not necessary to import anything now for the purposes of assuring future access.  The import process we would do today is the same process that we will be doing a year from now.

As of May 21, all Canvas environments at Penn have been consolidated at the http://canvas.upenn.edu address.
