After you create your SAS email address,  you can access your email by logging into the webmail page associated with email option that you chose.

Penn Live users can log in here - http://pennlive.sas.upenn.edu

Students forwarding to another account (e.g. GMail) should log into their forwarding destinations (e.g. http://gmail.com). 

Incoming students do not have accounts on mail.sas, our legacy mail system, and should not try to log into SAS Webmail.
