LPS Commons back online 8/6/2011
The LPS Commons – the system you use for your online course – is back online. However, you will need to reset your password in order to log in.
You can reset your password by clicking the link for “Request New Password” on the user log in box (at the top right of the screen), or by navigating to http://pennlpscommons.org/user/password When you request a new password, you will receive an email message with a temporary log in link. If you don't see the email message, please check your SPAM folder.
On the afternoon of 8/5/2011 we discovered a security problem on the Commons. The problem was quickly identified and fixed, but for a short period unauthorized people may have been able to intercept user passwords during log in. A careful scan of the system indicates that no data was disclosed and we see no evidence of unauthorized access.
However, as a precaution we are asking all users to reset their password on the Commons. If you used the same password on other systems, you should consider changing those, too. Again, we have no evidence that passwords have been compromised but encourage you to take this extra step as a precaution.
We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption caused by this incident. We are working closely with system administrators to assure that the problem is not repeated and that all student data remains secure.
