Streaming Media and Webcasts
Multi-Media Services operates its own streaming media servers. We host streaming media for on-demand access and live webcasts in Quicktime format. Our servers host MP3 audio files and other media types. Quicktime video encode instucions can be found here.
Live webcasts can be arranged for special events. Webcasts require significant preparation, and may involve fees for equipment or labor. For more information, or to discuss the details of your request, please contact us at mms-help. Lead time will be given at time of consultation with our technician.
We can provide Videoconferencing either in our personal video conferencing room (seats 1 or 2 people) or in our studio (seats up to 8 people). We also have portable equipment that can be set up in many classrooms. Our equipment support most internet protocols, including h.323 (typical for Polycom and Tandberg systems), iChat, Skype and other web conferencing systems. We don't charge for sessions that are related to undergraduate courses. Prices for other sessions are typically $100/hr with a $200 minimum. Multi-party conferences, or those that require ISDN connectivity can be arranged, but may require third-party contracting at an additional expense.
Multi-Media Services hosts post-production audio and video editing facilities for educational purposes. Our technical staff provide training and equipment editing tutorials upon request.
