SAS Computing Windows Options List

This table summarizes the standard options for new Windows computers provided through the SAS Computing allocations process for standing faculty only.

Current technology presents cost and performance trade-offs that should be reviewed with your local computing support provider (LSP) to ensure that you choose the computer that will best meet your requirements. The computer options below reflect a range of possible choices. If none of them provide the configuration you require, your LSP can help you choose a customized configuration.

Windows Options

Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit operating system.
(See Supported Desktop Operating Systems for more information.)


Software includes: Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office Professional, Mozilla Firefox, Secure CRT, Filezilla, and Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) in managed mode (laptops have SEP in unmanaged mode).

  2. The Small Form Factor (SFF) and Micro Form Factor (MFF) chassis do not allow for the addition of extra drives. A Tower Form Factor (TFF) option is available for those who will need expandability. Please see below for a visual comparison between the chassis.



  3. The USB-C port is a relatively newer type of port that is thinner than the USB 3 port, and that can handle power, data and video.
