 Investments

  • Ticketing: Look at what works and what doesn't work in how we use our existing ticketing system and evaluate how we can work more efficiently.
  • Knowledge Management (formerly KB): Examine and improve how we create, find, and update processes and practices for both internal SASC and SAS-wide use.
  • Part-Timers: Optimize use of part-timers (pool, training, practices).

Quick Wins

  • SASC Onboarding Checklist: Build a Teamwork tasklist template that routinizes all of the steps involved in bringing a new SASC staff member up to speed. This should include orientation tasks.
  • Meet New Faculty: LSPs and/or supervisors meet with each new faculty member, learn about their research, and how technology can help, and share this info with all of SASC.
  • ProjectDB: Create an intake process from all of SASC for client-requested projects and/or suggested improvements. Allow SASC staff to indicate interest in leading/participating in these projects.
  • Work Outside Dept.: Staff and supervisors work together to identify opportunities for each staff member to work on projects outside of their immediate work group.
  • Social Events: Facilitate more opportunities for SASC staff to socialize outside of work projects.
  • SpaceMap: Build a list (maybe eventually a map) of SAS workspaces available to SASC staff to either work collaboratively or to work on a project away from their normal work environment.
  • Chat: Provide one-to-one and many-to-many (public and private) IM/Chat in a platform where all SASC staff can be counted on to be reachable.
  • Technology for Research: Create/update a webpage of technology services (from SASC, ISC, and others) available to support research.
  • Assistant Project Leader: Create assistant project leader role on some projects.

Ongoing Successes
