John E. Marcotte, Ph.D., Director of the Statistical Computing Group, has over 25 years of experience using computers for quantitative analysis. He has used a variety of statistical software including GLIM, Gauss, SAS, SPSS, Stata and SUDAAN. Marcotte has also written programs in FORTRAN, Pascal and C to estimate complex models. He has expertise in discrete data analysis, duration analysis, numerical methods and sampling. Marcotte earned his doctorate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Timothy P. Cheney, Senior Programmer/Data Analyst has 18 years of experience with SAS, Stata and other statistical packages. Cheney’s forte is working with complex data sets. He also has experience in creating web applications. In addition to his projects at Penn, Cheney has worked as a consultant to the health care industry and internationally to government statistical offices.

Rumi Morishima, Programmer/Data Analyst, is the statistical analyst for the Christopher Browne Center and the Political Science Department. Experienced in SAS, Stata, and AMOS, she applies such statistical techniques as structural equation modeling, time-series cross-sectional analysis, and event history analysis to cross-national research on democratization, political violence, and globalization. Her work includes dissemination of globalization and westernization data to the social science community via ICPSR and policy-oriented research with USAID. She received a master's degree in Sociology from Ohio State, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the same program.

Ye Wang, Programmer/Data Analyst, is interested in quantitative analysis using different computer software. She is experienced using SAS, Stata, and EViews and is familiar with SPSS. She also has experience in database management and development, especially MS-Access and Oracle. She has been involved with projects analyzing economic data and sociological survey data. Wang received a master's degree in Computers from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University.
