CTL at Penn
The Center for Teaching and Learning supports teaching at the University of Pennsylvania. The Center works to help standing faculty, adjunct faculty and teaching assistants develop and improve their teaching; to promote valuable conversations about teaching among those groups; and to enhance the quality of education at Penn.
CTL is committed to helping instructors at Penn achieve excellence in the classroom and other venues where learning takes place. By fostering discussions about teaching, CTL encourages instructors to reflect on their own practices, to gain new insights, and to learn new ideas and strategies from each other.
For instructors seeking to better their teaching, the Center provides an array of workshops and individual consultations.

CTL Has Moved!
Our new location is Sansom Place East room 224. The address is 3600 Chestnut and the door to the building is located between Chestnut and Sansom off of Steve Murray Way (would be 36 1/2 street).
To get to the entrance walk north from Barnes and Noble on 36th street. At the next block take a left on Sansom. At the next block take a right. The entrance is off the plaza on the right.
You will need a Penn ID to enter the building (use the last four digits of your social security as your pass code.)

The Faculty-to-Faculty Observation Program facilitates faculty sharing and reflecting upon teaching practices by visiting fellow faculty’s classes. The program offers faculty the chance to observe their colleagues’ teaching and to get input about their own teaching from their peers.

Teaching in a Crisis
by Mauro F. Guillen
How do you teach when your subject is in the news? And how do you teach your subject when your subject is under fire? Economic, political, or health crises offer opportunities for bringing real-life issues into the classroom, but they also pose enormous challenges.
