CWiC's undergraduate Speaking Advisors are available to facilitate workshops for groups that request them. Workshop topics include, but are not limited to-
Speak with Confidence! Controlling Nervousness
Participants will learn approaches to public speaking that influence speech anxiety, and they will practice specific strategies for managing nervousness.
Get to the Point! Effective Use of PowerPoint
Participants will learn about common PowerPoint mistakes and strategies for successfully integrating visual aids into a presentation.
Speak with Style! Strategies for Delivery
Participants will learn how to effectively deliver speeches by understanding the importance of voice and movement. In addition to practicing vocal exercises, participants will gain an understanding of how movement can help or hurt a speaker.
Make your Case! Debate Basics
Participants will learn the essential parts of a debate, including the structure of speeches, note-taking skills, and strategies for refutation.
Speak Together! Making Group Presentations Work
Participants will learn group roles and decision making steps key to effective groups as well as strategies for presenting a cohesive message.
