The recent Executive Order on “Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change” directs Federal Agencies to take steps to make it easier for American communities to strengthen their resilience to extreme weather and prepare for other impacts of the climate change. This presentation will describe how the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency created its first ever Climate Change Adaptation Plan to integrate climate adaptation into its programs, policies, rules, and operations to ensure that the agency’s work continues to be effective even as the climate changes. Local partnerships serve as examples and highlight opportunities for states, cities, businesses, and the public to get involved.
