Carlisle Center Formation
Liz Hanusey

The Carlisle Center is distinguishable by the black band of almost pure chert in the middle of buff-colored, silty to sandy agrillaceous limestone.
While there are no fossils present in the black band, there are ichnofauna (trace fossils in sediment) such as Chondrites burrow holes that have been pyritized over time.  Other fossils include Cruziana, Fustiglyphus, and Zoophychus.
