The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is a national leader in state environmental protection initiatives. Enhanced access to public information, reclaiming and restoring Pennsylvania's watersheds in partnership with local watershed groups, encouraging smart land use and joining with businesses to voluntarily reduce emissions and discharges are just some of the major initiatives the Department has undertaken which the Secretary will share with us. The Secretary will also discuss future environmental initiatives in Pennsylvania, including: water resources legislation and watershed protection, Governor Ridge's energy strategy, and environmental education initiatives such as Greenworks University and the role positive citizen actions is playing in cleaning up our environment.
