Alysia Joost

Alysia Joost, joined the ELP in August 2007 as the Coordinator of Student Services. Ms. Joost is responsible for planning and overseeing the social programs for students enrolled in the Intensive Program. In addition to managing the Student Center, she serves as an advisor to students and as a liaison among various university and community organizations.

Ms. Joost received her B.A. in English and Cultural Anthropology from Emory University. As part of her undergraduate work, she spent a semester in Australia, studying Australian authors and Aboriginal culture. Alysia continued her pursuit for cultural immersion and moved to Madrid, Spain where, for a number of years, she taught Business English and mastered her own skills in Spanish.

Prior to joining the ELP, Ms. Joost taught ESL and adult literacy as part of a welfare-to-work initiative at the YMCA Education and Technology Center in Philadelphia. Most recently, she developed and coordinated the YMCA’s Foreign Language and TOEFL preparation programs.
