SPEAK Dates

Prospective ITAs who would like to be certified to teach beginning in the: Must take the SPEAK on or before:
Summer 2009 semester April 15, 2009
Fall 2009 semester August 21 or 24, 2009
Spring 2010 semester December 9, 2009

Prospective ITAs who would like to take the test outside of these dates can take an equivalent test, the Test of Spoken English (TSE), offered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, NJ. This test is offered there once a month.

INTERACTIVE PERFORMANCE TEST (IPT) DATES

Prospective ITAs who would like to be certified to teach beginning in the: Must take the IPT on or before:
Summer 2009 semester April 27 or 28, 2009
Fall 2009 semester August 25, 26 or 27, 2009
Spring 2010 semester December 14 or 15, 2009

SIGNING UP FOR TESTS

To sign up for a test, prospective ITAs should come to the main office of the English Language Programs (ELP).

Before they can be signed up, they must pay the testing fee: SPEAK is $75, IPT is $85. Prospective ITAs can pay with their own funds or through a journal voucher if the department has agreed to pay on their behalf. Forms for this purpose are available either at our office or here:
