Lecturer
Jamie Evanini has been teaching EFL/ESL since 2002. She has worked at the ELP as a Lecturer since 2005.
She began teaching in 2002 as a JET program participant in Japan, where she taught English for oral communication in Japanese high schools. She later taught English to businessmen in Guadalajara, Mexico before coming to Philadelphia, where she has worked with many international university students. During her time at the ELP, Ms. Evanini has specialized in academic English courses such as Academic Reading and Writing, Listening to Lectures, and Academic Speaking. In 2007, she redesigned the curriculum for the ELP’s advanced elective, Reading Academic Texts. She is frequently an instructor for the ELP’s online course, Writing that Works. Her main teaching interests revolve around English for academic purposes and academic preparation.
Ms. Evanini also works as a Learning Instructor at the Weingarten Learning Resources Center at University of Pennsylvania, where she helps students with study strategies, writing and time management.
She has a BA in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a MA TESOL from the University of Pennsylvania.
