Leah Greenspoon joined the English Language Programs in July 2013 as Academic Advising Specialist in the University Connection Program. Leah advises students applying to and preparing for U.S degree programs and teaches a variety of University Connection courses, including: “Writing the University Application Essay,” “Applying to U.S. Universities,” and “Transition Workshop.”
Leah had previously been a lecturer in the ELP from May 2009 to December 2010, teaching courses in the Intensive Program, Business Intensive Program, and Conversation and Culture Program.
From January 2011 to July 2013, Leah served as ESL Program Coordinator at Valley Forge Military College where she developed and coordinated an Intensive English Language and Culture Program for international cadets preparing for U.S. undergraduate programs as well as officer training programs at the United States Service Academies. In this capacity, she worked with future military leaders from Gabon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq. While at Valley Forge, Leah also taught college Spanish and developed the school’s English Language and Leadership Summer Program.
Leah began her career in TESOL as an EFL instructor in Madrid, Spain from January 2005 to December 2007. She taught business English courses for company executives as well as intensive general English courses for children and adults. Over the course of six summers, Leah also served as Director and Director of Studies at a youth international summer program in Spain. In addition, she taught in Italian youth programs in Bologna and Mestre, Italy.
Leah holds an M.S. Ed in TESOL from Temple University as well as a BA in English Writing and a BSBA in Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh. Her professional interests include second language writing, academic advising, and academic skills preparation for international students entering U.S. universities.
