Robyn Turner joined the ELP as a lecturer in 2004, became a Language Specialist in 2008 and Sr. Language Specialist in 2013. During her time at ELP, she has taught a variety of courses in the Intensive Program, Business Intensive Program, ITA program, and workshops for International Dentists. In addition to teaching, Ms. Turner has also served as an interim Academic Advisor and Student Services Coordinator.
Ms. Turner earned her B.A. in English from Ursinus College in 1998, and her M.A. TESOL from West Chester University in 2001. She began her teaching career as a volunteer English teacher for migrant farm workers in Kennett Square, PA. In 2002, she taught English at Shibaura Institute of Technology in Japan. In 2003, she moved to New York and taught English at a private language school where she designed courses in American History, Literature, and Drama.
Ms. Turner returned to the Philadelphia area in 2004 where she taught academic speaking and college writing classes at Harcum College and Delaware County Community College. In 2006, she worked with the US State Department in an intensive academic preparation course for visiting scholars in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Turner is also actively involved in the TESOL profession as a member of Penn-TESOL East, serving as Vice President and Conference Chair in 2006. She has presented at International TESOL and NAFSA conferences in 2009.
