Manager, Professional Programs
Sharon Kim has been teaching courses in the ELP’s Intensive Program since 2006, became a Language Specialist in 2007 and became the Manager of Professional Programs in 2008. She began her career as an analyst for Korea’s Ministry of Finance and Economy, where, in addition to her policy duties, she taught and advised government officials about memo-writing and oral presentation. She has worked with non-profit organizations in India and the Philippines to design and pilot English language curriculums in under-resourced communities and has taught immigrant junior high and high school students at a private language school in Philadelphia.
Most recently, from 2005-2007, she taught in the Intensive English Program and coordinated a special program for French business students at Drexel University’s English Language Center. She has served as a SPEAK rater at Penn and Drexel.
In addition to her TESOL degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Kim has an M.P.A. with a concentration in Finance from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a B.A. in Sociology from Yale University. Her professional interests include English language education in economic development and educational technologies.
