Michael Sullivan has taught at the ELP since 2010, became a Language Specialist in 2011, and a Senior Language Specialist in 2014. He began teaching ESL in 2005 as a volunteer instructor at Philadelphia’s Nationalities Services Center. He completed his MATESOL at the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. Before becoming a Language Specialist, Michael also taught ESL at the Community College of Philadelphia.
Michael served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine from 2007 to 2009. He worked as a teacher trainer in the city of Lutsk, and worked with college and high school students in several regions of Ukraine. He has also lived in Rome, Italy, where he studied Italian language and art history for a semester at Temple University Rome. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Carnegie Mellon University.
Michael’s professional interests center around preparing students for academic life in the United States. He focuses especially on English for scientific disciplines.
