Rachel Chaffin joined the English Language Programs as a lecturer in 2012 and became a Language Specialist in 2014. Her career as an English teacher began in Japan, where she spent 6 years teaching English as a foreign language to students of all ages, from preschool to adult. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education with an M.S.Ed in TESOL and was awarded the Teresa Pica Award for Excellence in TESOL.
During her time at Penn's Graduate School of Education, Ms. Chaffin helped develop and pilot the curriculum for PEDAL@GSE, a practical English course serving the spouses and relatives who accompany international Penn students to Philadelphia. After graduating, she worked as a Learning Instructor at the Weingarten Learning Resources at Penn, offering guidance to both domestic and international students in the development of skills necessary for academic success.
