ELP-BPP1 Writing for Biomedical Professionals

Writing for Biomedical Professionals is an intensive 14-week writing course that will prepare you to handle writing tasks common to biomedical research fields with precision and style. In this course, you will significantly improve your ability to:

• Write clear and effective letters, memos, e-mails, progress reports, abstracts, and manuscript discussions
• Write clear, complete and concise sentences and paragraphs
• Choose vivid, concrete language that expresses your ideas precisely and powerfully
• Organize your ideas to effectively express what you really mean
• Customize your writing according to the needs and perspectives of your reader

You will work with your instructor and peers on daily writing and editing exercises, as well as four formal writing assignments. Through these assignments, you will increase your ability to recognize and apply the effective writing strategies consistently, so that no matter what you are required to write - a letter, a memo, an e-mail, a progress report, an abstract, or a manuscript discussion - you will write it well.

Experience in business writing may be helpful but is not required. Please note that this course runs for the entire semester (14 weeks), rather than the 7-week half semester.
