Introducing New Business Intensive Program

Starting in Spring 1, 2009 the English Language Programs will offer a new intensive English program called the Business Intensive English Program (BIP). The BIP is designed for advanced English students with an interest in business. Students can start in the general Intensive Program and transition into the BIP when they have reached the appropriate level, combine the BIP with the International Business Communication Program or take the BIP as an independent program. Penn Experiencing Email Problems

SEVIS Fee Increases on October 27

The SEVIS fee for F visas will be increased to $200 and the fee for J visas will be $180. The visa interview fee will also be increased. Please consult your local US Embassy for interview prices. The new fees will go up on October 27, 2008. Please make sure to prepare appropriately.

Date Change: Conversation & Culture (Summer 2)

The dates for the summer 2 session of Conversation & Culture have changed. The new dates are August 3 - 28, 2009. The applicaiton deadline is July 6, 2009. This change has been made to accomadate students who have summer vacation from their University during the month of August.

ELP House @ The Sheraton Opens New Gym

In January 2009, the Sheraton house opened their newly renovated and vastly improved gym. Complete with top of the line treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and free weights, the Sheraton gym provides residents and guests a convenient and free place to stay in shape.

In addition, the Sheraton also plan to completely renovate their roof-top pool, which is a favorite amenity of ELP students during the hot Philadelphia summers

Independence Day Holiday Hours

The English Language Programs will close for the US Independence Day holiday at 3:00pm (EST) on Thursday, July 2nd and will resume normal business hours (9:00am- 5:00PM) on Monday, July 6th.

All evening courses emphasize in-class practice of language skills and strategies. Out-of-class assignments are limited, making these courses perfect for the busy professional or others with full-time commitments during the day.
Evening courses meet one or two nights per week and are offered for all levels of English proficiency, from beginning to advanced. Courses are typically held in Fisher-Bennett Hall, located at 3340 Walnut Street, from 6:00-8:30 pm.
