Matt Lane
Executive Director, Department of Chemistry
Matt Lane is the Executive Director of the Department of Chemistry for the School of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania. Reporting directly to the chair of the Department and indirectly to the Vice Dean for Finance and Administration, Matt has management responsibility for the all non-academic aspects of the Department of Chemistry including facilities, staff, and IT. Matt has also served in SAS as the Director of the Office of Budget and Decision Support and as a Budget Analyst in that same office.
Matt completed his undergraduate degree at Earlham College, a Quaker college in Richmond, Indiana, and his graduate degree (MGA) at the University of Pennsylvania Fels Institute. His career has been primarily focused in Government and Non-Profit Finance with a number of years served in the Dade County Administrative Office of the Courts (Miami, FL) and the City of Philadelphia Streets Department (Sanitation). He began his career at Penn in 2001 as a Budget Analyst in the SAS Dean’s Office.
